Are We Happy Yet?

Are we happy yet?

Reminds me of summer vacation in the car.  ‘Are we there yet?’ Every five minutes, the kids want to know are we closer to our destination.  Life is exactly like that, don’t you think?

‘It’s all about the Climb.’  Hannah Montanna knows it.  Or at least Billy Ray Cyrus does.  So do all the inspirational authors .  Hey, nearly everybody does.  Life is all about the journey. About the  trip.  So what’s the problem?

Does everybody forget this along the way?  Good question. Really.  Think about it. You know your goal.  You do what you think is right to achieve your dream. Hell, you spend all of your life, steering in the direction of your end goal.  Yup, I’m going to be happy when…

Finally you reach your destination.  You worked your whole life for this. This is it! Are we happy yet, you ask? Of course not!  We can pretend we are.  In fact we’d look pretty stupid to admit we weren’t.  But how many of us  worked our ass off  for our dream.  Finally got there.  And found we were barking up the wrong tree?

Don’t be ashamed.  In fact, it happens to most people. Maybe the dream we were chasing wasn’t ours to begin with.  Perhaps we were so caught up in it, we were living someone elses’ dream.  Experts seem to think it’s all about ‘getting there.  Or living in the moment.  Yup that’s it.  Being consciously present.

Enjoying what we’re doing now.  Not living in the future.  Or the past.  But for Now.  Easily said.  In fact, quite eloquently put.  But try it.  Sometimes it’s easier to work toward your dream and forget this.

Ahh!  But that’s the Key!  That’s what life is all about.  And wouldn’t you like to know the secret, before you've spent all your life looking for it?  Are you ready for this?  Are you open to accept this?  Be prepared.  It’s so simple you may wonder if that’s all there is to it.  Okay I’ll tell you…

Happiness is within you.  It’s not about money.  Laugh if you will.  Or spend your whole life in denial thinking I’m wrong.  Read this over when you get there.  Listen.  I’ll save you the grief.

Millionaires  are still searching for this secret!  They are still trying to trade money for happiness.  It’s so simple.  Happiness can’t be bought. It has nothing to do with materialism.  Happiness is inner peace.

It’s taking the time out of every day, every hour, every moment to enjoy life.  To appreciate things we take for granted.  Yes, smell the roses.  Walk through your garden.  Enjoy your tea.  Sit down on the garden bench.  Close your eyes. Smile.  Feel the peace within. And be happy we CAN experience this. And revisit this feeling as often as you can.

 'Are We Happy Yet?'  Indeed!

Always Expect Miracles!

  2. Yay Kassie! Love the new blog! Thank you for this post, a timely reminder for me right now, sometimes when we are faced with disappointment or a bump in the road it's easy to fall in the gutter and feel glum and miss the beautiful flowers in the hedgerow! Thank you again xx

  3. Hi Kassie! I love your new blog and you are right on with your inspirational message. I, too, was looking for happiness in all the wrong places. It wasn't until I looked within, that I found an unbelievable peace and love like I've never felt before. And learning to live in the NOW has brought miracles (big and small)! Thanks for your beautiful message. Love and Light, Susie

  4. Hey Kassie, great blog...completely agree - money does not bring happiness. Happiness comes from within. On an additional note, I believe that the recession is teaching this to people and will continue to do so until the world changes its ways.
